Plymouth Airport Information

Opened in 1923 as an experimental project offering flights to Birmingham, Manchester and Belfast.

In 1925 the airport was used as a parcel hub to help speed up the transatlantic mail service. Airplane couriers such as Western Air Express, Olley's Air Service and Railway Air Services used the airport on their mail routes.

It was not until July 1931 that the airport was officially opened by HRH Prince of Wales, Edward VII.
