Reasonable Pickup and Return times
Please be considerate and try and plan the vehicle pickup and drop for normal office hours. We recommend you arrange to pickup before 4pm and return the vehicle before 10am on the return hire date.
Handover times
Always allow 40 minutes for a handover, both for collection and return of the motorhome. During the motorhome pick-up handover you will be shown how to use the motorhome such tasks as changing the toilet cassette and gas bottle changing. When you return the motorhome it will be checked over to ensure that everything is in good condition and fuel tanks are at the same levels as when taken out.
Liverpool Airport John Lennon (LPL) History
The airport was originally named Speke Airport and named after the Speke Hall grounds that it occupied. It started operations in 1930. Scheduled flights with Imperial Airways via Barton, Manchester, to Croydon, London became available.
With the outbreak of World War II the base was transferred to the RAF and became RAF Speke. Rootes in a shadow factory built Bristol Blenheims and Handley Page Haifaxes. The Lockheed Aircraft Corporation used the site to assemble Hudson lightweight bombers and P-51 Mustangs fighters, these aircraft where shipped to Liverpool docks.
After VE-Day the RAF base was transfered again for civil use.
The original Speke building has been converted to a hotel; the old terminal can be seen on Beatle footage with fans standing on the art deco style structure.
In 2002 the site was renamed in honour of Liverpool's famous son John Lennon.
