Motorhome Hire Wales
Smaller than Scotland and England, Wales still manages to offer a wide range of tourist destinations, from city to countryside and coast. Cardiff is the capital of Wales and boasts many cultural and historic attractions such as Cardiff Castle, Wales Millennium Centre, and National Museum Cardiff.
Wales’ artistic heritage can be seen across the country. Notable Welsh pottery includes Cambrian Pottery, Nantgarw Pottery and Portmeirion Pottery, all of which can be witnessed and purchased in various locations across the country. A centre dedicated to poet and author Dylan Thomas is located in Swansea. The National Museum Wales comprises of eight separate museums across Wales and is the best place to visit to get a taste of Welsh art and culture. These locations are: National Museum Cardiff, National History Museum Cardiff, Big Pit National Coal Museum, National Woollen Museum, National Slate Museum, National Roman Legionary Museum, National Waterfront Museum and Turner House Gallery. Swansea is the second largest city in Wales and is found on the south west coast. Swansea Castle, Grand Theatre and Glynn Vivian Art Gallery are all popular places to visit in Swansea.
Despite its relatively small size, Wales is home to three National Parks: Snowdonia, the Brecon Beacons and Pembrokeshire. Snowdonia houses Mount Snowdon, Wales’ highest mountain which stands at 1085m high. There are many different walking and hiking routes to climb Snowdon with varying levels of difficulty for those looking for a challenge. Snowdon can easily be climbed in a single day and there is even a mountain railway on site to allow visitors to ascend and descend at leisure. The Brecon Beacons is a mountain range situated in south Wales. The area is popular with tourists and some activites available include walking, cycling, horse riding, rock climbing, fishing and canoeing. There are waterfalls scattered across the Brecon Beacons and several caves which provide an exciting diversity to the landscape. Wildlife and vegetation in the area is rich and diverse and Welsh mountain ponies and sheep can be found grazing across the park. Pembrokeshire is bordered by sea on three sides and as a result offers some of the most picturesque and dramatic coastal landscapes in Wales and the UK. Whitesands Bay, the North and South Beach Tenby and Broad Haven are all popular beach destinations with visitors. The small fishing village of Tenby is one of the most visited in Pembrokeshire and has a museum, art gallery, harbour, original historic town walls and an unspoilt beach. From Tenby, island locations such as Caldey Island and St Catherine’s Island can be reached. One of the most popular activities to try in Pembrokeshire is a walk along the Pembrokeshire Coast Path, a National Trail which spans 186 miles between Poppit Sands and Amroth. Scenery and diverse birdlife are some of the major pulls of the path.
