Motorhome owners and hirers travelling in the UK and Europe will probably choose to spend most of their nights in a campsite when touring. There are many benefits to using campsites while touring in a motorhome. Firstly, there are facilities onsite to allow the disposal of waste and water, plus there will be an electric hook-up point to supply power to the electric sockets and appliances inside the motorhome. If the gas bottles become empty during a stay at a campsite, they can usually be refilled onsite with ease. There may also be a shop which stocks useful supplies and essential items such as milk and bread. Certain campsites may also offer extra facilities such as a swimming pool or tennis courts which visitors can use. Campsites can be in a variety of different locations, from the edge of a large city or town to the middle of rural countryside. Some are large and others only allow a small number of motorhomes. In the summer months, campsites often become fully booked in advance. It is advisable to search and book campsites online if planning to travel in June, July or August. Bank holiday periods are usually the busiest so be prepared to drive around a fair bit if you plan to find a campsite with vacancies if you haven't booked already.
