Motorhome Hire East Anglia
East Anglia traditionally consists of the counties of Norfolk and Suffolk, with Cambridgeshire often being referred to as part of the region. East Anglia is a relatively flat area made up of fenland and marshland. Compared to other parts of the UK, cities in East Anglia are relatively small with Norwich and Cambridge being amongst the most popular.
Norwich is the capital of East Anglia and offers a range of museums, theatres, art centres, churches and parks for visitors. Popular attractions in the city include Norwich Royal Theatre, Norwich Castle and the corresponding Norwich Castle Museum and Norwich Cathedral.
The Broads is a network of rivers and lakes which span Norfolk and Suffolk. The area can be discussed in terms of the two counties: the Norfolk Broads and Suffolk Broads however the area as a whole is often referred to as the Norfolk Broads. The rivers which make up the network on the Broads are: River Bure, River Thurne, River Ant, River Yare, River Chet, River Waveney and River Wensum. The Broads are the perfect place to witness wildlife, try fishing or birdwatching and enjoy walking or boating.
Another feature of East Anglia is its coast. Beaches span the entire west border
of the region and are mostly sandy and known from their cleanliness and spacious
appearance.
As well as small, picturesque and secluded beaches, traditional coastal resorts
can be found in East Anglia, including Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft. Many
archetypal English seaside attractions and features can be witnessed in the area
such as piers, beach huts and fish and chip shops.
Cambridge is a city in the county of Cambridgeshire and is most famous for being home to the University of Cambridge. The University is the second oldest in England (to the University of Oxford) and is considered to be one of the finest academic institutions in the world. Maintaining a traditional collegiate system, the University of Cambridge allows tourists to visit each as a separate venue and there are also a number of museums and collections on offer to the general public throughout the year. The architecture of both the university and city of Cambridge is often a draw for tourists and the major streets, including Trinity Street, King’s Parade and Silver Street, all offer examples from many historical periods. The Cambridge Corn Exchange - a popular theatre, Kettle’s Yard – a modern art gallery, and Jesus Green – a riverside park, are just some of the many varied places in Cambridge that can be enjoyed. Punting on the River Cam is also a popular activity, especially in the summer months, and is a type of boating which involves pushing a pole against the river bed to drive the boat forward in a similar way to the technique used with Venetian gondolas.
