Airport Search

Coventry Airport is located 3.5 miles south-east from Coventry city centre. Coventry was a hub for Thomsonfly until they ceased operations from the airport in November 2008. This was due to continued successful opposition to the building of a new terminal.

The Midlands Airport will redevelop itself into a cargo and corporate travel hub following the loss of its main passenger carrier.

Motorhome Driving Directions

Take the A45 or A46 to the Toll Bar End Roundabout and take the first exit onto Siskin Drive and Middlemarch Business Park. At the Second Roundabout, take the second exit onto Siskin Parkway West. Finally at the third, take the first exit continuing on Suskin Parkway Est. The entrance to the Passenger Terminal should be approximately 300 meters on your right hand side. The Siskin Parkway West and outside the entrance to the terminal are all designated Clearway's and there should be no stopping or parking in there's areas. Coventry Traffic wardens operate within the area.

Coventry Airport Car Parking

Coventry Airport has several main parking areas, on-site and around the boundary area. All parking areas are linked to the terminal by a free shuttle bus service. The on-site parking facility is limited parking for 38 vehicles with limited parking up to one hour. There are over one hundred spaces available in the off-car park for longer parking stays. If the motorhome handover is taking place in a boundary area car park please allow 40 minutes to transfer by free airport shuttle bus from the car park to terminal check-in.

Motorhome Delivery and Pickup Charges

Delivery and pickup charges will be displayed on the vehicle details section for each vehicle.

Motorhome Bedding and linen costs

On selected motorhomes bed linen can be hired. This is very useful for international hirers who will find it difficult to travel with bedding. We strongly recommend you bring your own bed linen or hire bed linen rather than using sleeping bags. The motorhome comes with a mattress you may as well sleep in a bed rather than a cold rough campsite sleeping bag. Most modern motorhomes have air conditioning. Check your motorhome hire for details.

There is no charge for pans, pots and kitchen cutlery.

Reasonable Airport Pickup and Motorhome Return times

Please be considerate and try and plan the motorhome airport pickup and return for normal office hours. We recommend you arrange to pickup before 4pm and return the vehicle before 10am on the return hire date. Please allow plenty of time to travel between your motorhome hire to the Coventry airport terminal check-in gates.

Motorhome Handover times

Always allow 40 minutes for a handover, both for collection and return of the motorhome. During the motorhome pick-up handover you will be shown how to use the motorhome such tasks as changing the toilet cassette and gas bottle changing. When you return the motorhome it will be checked over to ensure that everything is in good condition and fuel tanks are at the same levels as when taken out.

Coventry Airport brief History

Coventry Airport chief executive, Chris Orphanou has commented that more commercial flights would take up the slack created by the loss of their largest passenger carrier and promised passenger flights would return to Coventry.

The airport was opened 1936. Armstrong Whitworth, aircraft manufacturers was based nearby at Whitley Aerodrome. They developed an aircraft factory on the airport site soon afterwards.

During the Second World War the site was called RAF Baginton, and RAF Fighter Squadrons where based there. The base's runway was badly damaged during Luftwaffe bombing of Coventry.

After the war the RAF transferred the base to civil authority use and was extensively used as a commercial freight hub.

Pope John the Second visited the Coventry airport in 1982 by blue and gold helicopter before leaving in the popemobile.
